Waiting to get picked up at Strathfield and sat at Gloria Jeans for about 45 minutes working on my essay.. (Yea, it's still not done, but I have learnt a lot from researching about it, I feel enlightened, haha) and this man was going around to everyone asking for change.
The thing is, after a while, he got enough money and.. Went to the counter to get a slice of raisin bread with butter. From Gloria Jeans.
Call me unsympathetic and hypocritical, but I don't understand that at all. Why would someone with not enough money and desperate enough to beg.. get overpriced food from a cafe, when a supermarket is just close by (5 minutes walk max. And it was still open) and he could have gotten a whole loaf of raisin bread and a stick of cheap butter for the same price?
Ok, I'm not exactly poor (though I like to claim that I am but a poor student) and I still have a job despite the currently atrocious economy, but still, why go after luxury when it is totally not necessary?
Maybe I'm just annoyed because I feel ripped off for donating money to Gloria Jeans rather than to a needy man.
